A drink that promises to be both a conversation starter and a palate pleaser, the Team at 3BR has just released yet another one-of-a-kind product encapsulating the essential Jersey culture!
3BR’s Distillery's Elevator Series, specialty batch “one-offs” uniquely released periodically each year, have varied greatly from ingredients to production processes to aging styles and final flavor profiles. The Elevator series got its name from emulating Grandpa Oleg, the grandfather of Maks and Aleks, who was an elevator engineer and used to moonshine with his own handmade still in the Soviet Union. Many times Aleks, the head distiller, leads the team’s product development while capturing phenomenal aspects of New Jersey’s rich agriculture. Elevators have been created using locally grown tomatoes like in 05 TOMATO Liqueur in 2022 to last summer’s 09 Peaches and Basil made using Jersey peaches and basil from Rutgers University.
This summer season, Aleks took on the challenge to distill the Jersey spirit right out of a beloved breakfast sandwich - the classic pork roll, egg, and cheese!
The pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwich started to become popular in the early 1900's after John Taylor came out with "Taylor's prepared Ham" in 1856. Since then, Taylor was required to change the name legally and decided to go with Pork Roll. He even tried to patent his product but was denied and so competitors took to the market.
Today, breakfast sandwiches come in all shapes and sizes but the Pork Roll Egg and cheese will always remain one of the greats!
Whether you call it Pork Roll or Taylor Ham, this new spirit contains the excellent meaty, smoky flavor notes found in a pork roll, egg, and cheese within the comfort of the bready-ness of an everything bagel. The full bodied flavor is very prominent and can be paired well with other intense flavors.
Making Cocktails at home with 011 PEC?
A Bloody Mary gives you an all-in-one breakfast experience - imagine the toppings! 011 PEC also does well in a complex cocktail like a Negroni or you can go as simple as just a PEC and tonic. Of course, the bartenders at 3BR have concocted a set of special drinks for its release on June 28th, 2024, using maple syrup, kefir, and orange simple to provide a sweet and creamy backdrop to balance the drastic umami flavors of the spirit. One of the best parts of our Elevator releases is the creative garnishes used for the chosen menu items. This time, a slice of candied bacon topped this sweet and savory mix!
“Someone had to do it,” Head Distiller, Aleks said while he went into detail about the complexity of the spirit. It's not the first and definitely will not be the last time he will be cooking up a crazy idea for a fun and tantalizing experience in a botte.
